I have always been an animal lover. I enjoy going to the zoo and natural history museums. It has been a dream of mine to go on an African Safari and to paint the animals that live there. It is still on my bucket list! I will have to stick to zoos for the time being.
This painting is from a lion that I had an encounter with. When I was living in Alberta, a friend and I visited Beaverlodge, a rehabilitation centre in Grand Prairie, Alberta with the intention of hosting an art show to support their efforts. They had rescued a lion that was purchased as a pet when he was a cub. He was a beautiful beast. After lunch, I got too close to the fence and he licked my hand. Scared the begeezes out of me. I guess I should have washed my hands after eating.
Brenda has created this majestic Lion in her signature watercolour style. This beautiful 12×12 watercolour is painted on 250lb Bockingford cold press Watercolour paper. It is mounted on white pine gallery style cradleboard, then varnished and sealed with cold waxed for protection and displayed in a black floating frame. This painting doesn’t need to be framed under glass. It is ready to hang on your wall!
